School uniform wise, Mara tends to stay in the skirt year round. She isn't much of a fan of the sweater vest but she'll throw the cardigan on if it's cold and she can't get away with something better. Outside of class her fashion is quite all over the place. She mixes up the posh with more grunge features, like leather jackets, jeans, plaid, etc. Girl knows how to glam it up when required, though. even with a load of colorful dye in her hair.

Mara is.. special, to say the least. She has a thing for weapons, especially sharp objects, and has a vast collection of knives and daggers that she keeps hidden under her bed at home. Some might even have names. If you need to get this girl a gift you can never go wrong with decorative knife.

When she's not relaxing she's in go mode. She adventurous, she loves exploring and sparring, and she sometimes can get herself into a bit of trouble. She's not exactly trying to stir shit, but she's not a particularly GOOD girl or anything, either. Partying is how she really lets herself go, but she can be seen doing anything from dancing to video games as well.

It really irks her when she doesn't get her own way and she's not below using money or her body to sway someone's decision, though she doesn't quite give up the booty as easily as some would think. Most could say that she's friendly with them, but there's only a very select few who she keeps close and would never intentionally hurt. Anyone else could be manipulated if she needed something from them, and it's unlikely she'd feel too bad about it. She knows you have to be aggressive to survive high school and she's not about to let anyone make her look bad.

She enjoys messing with with boys and girls who pursue her sexually, mostly by way of shameless flirting and games. She loves casually flirting with just about anyone of the human race. Even her teachers aren't safe from a wink or a compliment. Mostly, she likes the attention or making people blush.

During the summer she stayed at Finchwood Academy to train more just for the hell of it. Now her imagination has got the best of her and she's having nightmares of shadows escaping and trying to take over the world, making it hard to get some decent sleep. It doesn't stop her from staying focused when she needs to be, she has a hell of a poker face, but friends can tell something isn't quite right. Especially when she hasn't taken the time to do her hair in the morning.

Overall, she's crazy friendly enough. Sometimes it's too much effort to try, though.

[Swahili & French]: Her father's family is from East Africa, which allowed her to grow up learning Swahili alongside English and making her fluent in both languages. French has been more of an elective over the years, but she speaks it well enough that she could get by in France. Rolling her Rs isn't the best, though.
[Sporty]: She's an athletic girl, having done some competitive gymnastics when she was younger, but now she enjoys playing baseball and some other games with her classmates.
[Artistic]: Acting, singing (sounds like Kiana Ledé), painting.. you name it, she's probably at least tried it. She enjoys doing stuff in the drama department these days, being on stage helps feed the attention starved diva inside of her. Drawing and painting are rare side hobbies she does when there's not much else to do, the former mostly being done digitally on the computer. Painting takes more effort and time to set up, but she likes dabbing with watercolors, acrylics, and even sometimes incorporates resin.
[Dance]: After quitting gymnastics she turned to dance to still get the same workout. She likes it better, there's more to do with it than flipping around.

While daddy was off playing American Hero, Mara Marston spent a large chunk of her childhood years in Virginia Beach with her mom. It wasn't so bad, they lived along the ocean and they found fun things to do to distract them from their worrying. Mara did gymnastics and competed competitively, and when dad was home he told her watered down stories of his missions and taught her how to handle herself in a fight.

School life was typical. She got her homework done and managed passing grades, even if it was boring and she'd rather be playing video games or something. She knew early on that she liked both boys and girls, even if she didn't really act on it until puberty came roaring in. Both of her parents always knew and never said anything. They accepted her preference and treated her like any other little girl so Mara never grew up thinking anything was wrong with her or being bisexual.

Eventually, her dad being gone all the time really got to be too much for her mother. She was lonely and couldn't stand the constant worrying any longer, so she filed for divorce when Mara was 11 years old and the two of them moved up to Maine to be closer to her grandparents and other family. Mara's mom took to painting fulltime and became rather well known in the New England area, eventually even remarrying to a man who flipped houses for living.

School in Maine wasn't much different from Virginia. Making new friends was annoying, but it wasn't something that was particularly hard for Mara. People liked her bold personality and honesty, even if she didn't always have something nice to say. Her mother constantly checked to make sure she was okay, and truthfully, she was. The divorce didn't bother her like it would most children. She still saw her dad about the same amount as she did before, so other than moving up north, things were basically the same.

As Mara got older, her independence grew. By the time she reached her freshman year of high school, she'd been wandering the streets of Cape Elizabeth and Portland with her new friends long enough to know where the good parties were at and where she could get away with doing over 21 things. She wasn't hardcore into drugs or anything like some of them were, but she knew how to have a good time

Her father had stayed in Virginia until he retired from the Seals, then he moved up to Maine just to be closer to her. He was the one who told her about Finchwood Academy, having heard about it from gossiping buddies. The idea of going to some fancy private school didn't sit well with Mara, but once she found out what Finchwood was really about, it sounded perfect. Following in her dad's footsteps hadn't ever been on the top of her list, but Finchwood sounded exciting. Like a super secret club for teen badasses where she could show off the skills she'd learned from him.

Naturally, her first year was a bit of a reality check on what she really signed up for. She was much more farther along than most students when it came to combat, but she fell behind when it came to her connection with Ariel, her persona. She stayed over the summer to study more and try to work on her abilities with Ariel, but it's something she still struggles with majorly and it's driving her bonkers. Along with that, this year she's feeling nervous about the shadow realm and what could happen in there, so her sleeping pattern isn't exactly GOOD. She's still determined to suck it up and be a badass shadow slayer, though.
